The museum is housed in the Old Sessions House built in 1825.
Collections Overview
The museum collections illustrate the history of the Country Palatine of Lancaster from Prehistory to present day and incorporate themes of social and industrial history, archaeology, natural history and geology, fine and decorative art, military history, with associated archive and photographic material.
Display Overview
The permanent galleries trace the history of the county, with special exhibitions and events also held regularly on themes such as social history, natural science and Arts & Crafts. In addition, three local Regiments have collections based within the museum: 14th/20th King's Hussars, Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry and the Queen's Lancashire Regiment (see separate records for each of these museums).
