Building Information
The building is in two parts, a 16th/17th century black and white tudor building (late 16th/early 17th century) which was a merchant's warehouse and his adjoining mansion built in brick and stone (c.1618).
Collections Overview
The collections at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery include the Shrewsbury Museums Service's collections of natural history, geology, archaeology, social history, fine and decorative arts. Highlights include extensive Roman material from Wroxeter (Viroconium) and Shropshire ceramics including Caughley, Coalport and Salopian Art Pottery The museum has also produced a website of information and links relating to the surrounding area. Display Overview
The current displays particularly reflect the geology, archaeology and history of Shrewsbury and Shropshire with a new exhibition of Shropshire Ceramics opening Spring 2002. The museum has a temporary exhibition programme featuring contemporary arts. The museum is open throughout the year.
