This is one of the museum's most notable collections and contains over 6000 fossils, which representative specimens from every rock type in the county. Of particular importance are the extremely fine greensand and chalk fossils donated by William Cunnington III, the majority of whose collection was given to the British Museum. The museum also holds some material from the collection of Rev William Ryton Andrews (1834-1922), one of the foremost geological collectors of his time.
