Ludlow holds the Shropshire County Museum Service's biology collection. The bulk of it is accounted for by its entomology material and there are British and some foreign mollusca. There are small collections of dried invertebrates, a herbarium, birds' eggs, some mounted birds and vertebrates, and a small osteology collection.
The entomology collection comprises 31,500 specimens, mostly collected from the Welsh border region. Other groups include mollusca, dried invertebrates, a herbarium, birds eggs, mounted specimens and osteology.

Grade II The museum occupies ground floor premises in the fine Assembly Rooms on the market square.
Collections Overview
The collections are exceptionally strong in geological material from the Shropshire area, and there is a good biology collection. Other significant material includes social history, costume, photographic and fine art objects.
