Building Information
Palladian Mansion set in a classical landscape park, built 1759-65 for Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Baron Scarsdale, whose family had lived at Kedleston since the 12th century. The most complete and least altered series of Robert Adam interiors in England.
Collections Overview
The collections were inherited and amassed by Sir Nathaniel Curzon, later 1st Lord Scarsdale. Many of the interiors were designed to receive specific pieces (particularly paintings), or interiors and objects were designed together to form an artistic unity.
Display Overview
The interiors are displayed very much as they would have been in the 1st Lord Scarsdale’s time.
