Collections Overview
The museum collects material relating to life and work in the Black Country, usually before a date of about 1950. The collection ranges from the buildings themselves (a whole Black Country small town has been reconstructed from premises brought from all over the area), to workshops, transport (including trams and canal boats), retail premises, houses, a chapel, a school, a pub and a cinema, together with all the artefacts and detailed paraphanalia that go with a project of this kind.
Display Overview
The displays are based on the reconstructed buildings and workplaces themselves, and present everything in as authentic an environment as possible. Costumed interpreters and demonstrators are a central part of the interpretative environment.
