Biology/Nat History
The collection contains comprehensive natural history collections which (including geology) number around 550,000 individual items. Over 6,500 vertebrate specimens (20% Britain and Europe, rest worldwide); over 16,500 birdsí eggs, Britain and world-wide; 340,000 insect specimens (65% British and European, rest world-wide); 52,000 invertebrates (10% uk, 90% foreign); 76,000 botanical specimens. 15,000 biological site records, 400,000 species records, 6,000 land parcels records, 220 geological site records). Current collecting gives prioritiy to specimens and records from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, but will also seek British, European and world-wide specimens to complete gaps, and for display.
