The collection consists of tools and machinery used to manufacture products in Coventry's industries, together with the products of those industries, including pattern books. Of particular interest are the silk weaving, watchmaking, transport and mechanical and electrical engineering industries. The 8 space Jacquard loom of c.1845, and the single hand loom are particularly notable exhibits in connection with the ribbon industry.

Collections Overview
This is a large general museum service, and has wide-ranging collections. The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum is best known for its fine art collections, including a group of items by Graham Sutherland (related to his work in the nearby Coventry cathedral), and for its imaginative displays on the City's history.
