Visiting Information
Access is for reference to paper based materials only. There is no electronic access. A black and white photocopier which takes cash payment is available. External borrowing membership is available for an annual charge.
Any student or member of staff from another institution which has university status can enter the building on any day on production of a vaild library card crom the home institution or a UK Libraries Plus card. All other visitors can enter the library on any weekend or during any day when the library is open during the University vacations. If you want to visit at any other time, please write to the Head of Reader Services, stating when you wish to visit and what material you would like to consult. This will ensure that staff are available to help during the very busy academic semesters. Please note that unaccompanied children under the age of 16 will not be granted access. Visitors must report to the Reception Desk with appropriate ID and will be asked to complete some registration formalities before entering the building.
Collections Overview
The Library collection supports the university's teaching and research interests and is arranged over five floors on open shelves for browsing. Subjects include Architecture, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical engineering, Chemistry, Civil engineering, Computer science, Economics, Education, Electronic engineering, European studies, Health, Language and languages, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical sciences, Natural sciences, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Physics, Psychology, Social sciences and Sports sciences. There are a number of special collections; the Antiquarian Collection, European Documentation Centre (EDC), Open University Collection, Pitman Collection, Richard Bowen Judo Collection, Royal Bath and West of England Society Library Collection and the Watkins Collection. The Library also holds copies of theses submitted for University of Bath degrees and the institutional records of the University of Bath.
