Description
The Henry Moore Institute houses and maintains the Leeds Museums & Galleries Archive of Sculptors' Papers. It covers the eighteenth century to the present day with a particular emphasis on the twentieth century and contains a diverse range of papers relating to British sculptural practice. The Archive includes personal papers of sculptors, correspondence, diaries, photographs, casting ledgers, sketchbooks and drawings, press-cuttings and printed ephemera.

Collections Overview
There are 3 designated collections in Leeds; Fine and Decorative Arts, Industrial and Natural Science, but the collections also include Anthropology, Archaeology, Numismatics, Social History and Costume and Textiles. Collections are housed, stored and dispalyed in a number of buildings and will be described;- Abbey House for Social history; Armley and Thwaite Mills for Industry; City Art Gallery for Fine art; Lotherton hall for Costume and textiles and Temple Newsam for Decorative Arts.
Designated collection of 20th century British art, prints and drawings from 17th century to the present and a sculpture collection probably the best in the regions.18th and 19th century English watercolours are also well represented and the decorative art and old master painting collections as part of restored period settings at Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall are rich in furniture, notably Chippendale, silver, textiles, wallpapers, and ceramics, with an excellent collection of Leeds creamware.
Display Overview
20th century British paintings, sculpture, watercolours always on show and the Gallery also houses the Craft Shop and Design Gallery, one of the most prestigious retail outlets for contemporary craft in the North of England.
Adjoining the Gallery is the Henry Moore Institute with the acclaimed sculpture study centre, and programme of sculpture exhibitions.
