Robert Fitch
Role: Collector
Short Biography: Robert Fitch was an eminent antiquarian, being a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, and secretary of the Norfolk Archaeological Society, one of the oldest archaeology societies in the country. He was closely involved with the Norfolk and Norwich Museum in a number of ways. In 1891, in a period when the museum moved to Norwich Castle, he donated his collection to the museum and gave money to build a room complete with beautiful showcases to display objects from across his collection. The Fitch collection is the largest and most important donation from a private collector.
