he museum is mainly noted for its nationally important collections of Roman material, although it also holds collections of Prehistoric, Iron Age, Saxon, Medieval and post Medieval material, acquired both as stray finds and through fieldwork.

Verulamium Museum is on the site of one the major cities in Roman Britain, now an attractive park. Inside there are recreated Roman rooms, including a domestic shrine, carpenter's workshop and kitchen and hands-on Discovery Areas with themes of Recreation & Rites; Merchants & Markets; Making a Living; and Food & Farming
