Overview of collections

The collection consists of artefacts manufactured, used or found in Gillingham and its locality, together with documents from the 13th century to the present day.

Overview of how collections are displayed

The exhibition begins with Gillingham's geographical and geological context and then focuses on early settlement. Other subjects covered are the fire brigade, railway, law and order and town industries, all illustrated with artefacts. There is a Victorian parlour reconstruction and a graphic display of the connection with the artist John Constable.
