The collections are small and include 250 archival items, 300 costume and textile items, 300 medical items, 300 coins and medals, about 3,000 social history
items and a large collection of photographs, about 2,500 and other reference material relating to the Hampshire Branch of the Red Cross.

Overview of how collections are displayed

The museum, opened in March 1994, shows the growth in the Hampshire Branch of the British Red Cross since its beginning in 1909, and its existence is due to the generosity of Miss E. Balfour OBE, Director of the Hampshire Branch from1946 - 1991. There is free car parking and a coffee shop and a series of displays showing the development of the Red Cross from inception through two World Wars to the present through models, photographs and objects. Wheelchair access.
