Overview of collections

The original Abbot's House, situated near what remains of Dunfermline's Benedictine Abbey, became a Heritage Centre in 1995 and includes displays relating to the various different roles fulfiled by the house in its history. Collections relate to the social history of the surrounding area, the House and its inhabitants, who include Lady Anne Halkett, the Jacobite adventuress.

Overview of how collections are displayed

The collections are displayed in a series of reconstructed rooms and scenes. Particular highlights include the display of the head-shrine of Saint Margaret, wife of King Malcolm III (Malcolm Conmore) in a reconstructed room giving an idea of the irch decoration of the original Abbey.
