The collections contain original and reproduction material assembled for the purpose of presenting the history of the house since its construction. It includes furniture, costume, textiles and decorative and fine art from throughout this period.

Overview of how collections are displayed

Permanent displays of room settings relating to the house's 400 year history, which includes visits by Charles I and Prince Rupert in 1642. Temporary exhibitions cover social history and community topics. The Museum of the Staffordshire Yeomanry occupies part of the building.
