Overview of collections

Hampshire Museums and Archives Service manages collections on the archaeology, history, art and environment of the county, in 19 historic sites and museums, 11 in partnership with District Councils, and in reserve in store at Chilcomb House. 140,000 objects and over 300,000 records can be accessed online, with 100% of records to be available by late 2004. Archaeology is described under Andover Museum, Decorative Art under Allen Gallery, Natural History under Curtis Museum, Social History under Curtis and Industrial History under Milestones.

Built as a workhouse in 1764 the museum has social and natural history, geology and archaeology, life in the workhouse and a Saxon burial.
